You can tell the condition of a nation by looking at the status of its women. - Jawaharlal Nehru
India is a country with a rich and diverse culture. Indian culture tells us to multiply and distribute joy and happiness and share sadness and pain. It tells us that by all this we can develop co-operation and better living amongst ourselves and subsequently make this world a better place to live in.Even though India is a country of various religions and caste, our culture tells us just one thing 'phir bhi dil hai hidustani '.
In such a culture rich country like India,women always enjoyed a respectable position.To add to it India was one of the first countries in the world to give women the right to vote.The Indian Constitution being one of the most progressive in the world,guarantees equal rights for men and women.All this is cited so as to bring forth the the status of a Indian women in the society.Alongside this ,however,there is the reality which paint another picture.
Overlooking the CAW(Crimes Against Women),we can see that over the years it is steadily on the rise in India.CAW traditionally includes rape, kidnapping and abduction, dowry death, torture, molestation, sexual harassment, importation of girls, cases under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, Sati Prevention Act, Dowry Prohibition Act and Indecent Representation of Women (Prevention) Act.It is quite shocking to learn that the same country boasted of having a respectable culture ,has turned out to be a hub of criminal activities against women!!!!!!!!!!!..However,till date ,we got many incidents happening around us that remind us of the social responsibility of safeguarding women.As in case of Mumbai molestation ,only a few would hit the news,which mostly end up in unproductive results.How about the rest,those stories that don't see the limelight?.So it is high time that we react to it at the drop of a hat,for what culture have we got in a country where the women are treated as something less than a human being.

This sounds good to think.While we are saying we are promoting ladies we have to see whether they are promoted???Also it is high time for all the ladies to raise their ambitions from house wife to upper level where they can contribute to society.Let some icons like Annie besant all be the role models.So be bold,couragoeus and imaginative.Lets make the world beautiful and sensible!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice socially relevant article..i agree with you..although another aspect to it not looking at WHAT but trying to answer WHY!!..do you realize that the crimes against woman have grown 10 folds in last 20 years time..ever since the economy has started to boom..i think we need to look at otherside of the coin as well..with the changing times, women have come out of there houses and taken up jobs in various walks of life and they have become today a force to reckon with..but the same thing have made them more vulnerable to various sort of crimes against them..another problem is ,if i may say so, the government's attitude to flesh trade which has not been legalized in our country..which is rather hippocratical approach for a country which claims to be progressive..think about it with a open mind..most of the CAW are usually sex related..which happens because of a physical manifestations of sexually repressed and frustrated human being.. now if the body trafficking is legalized there are lot of things that will happen..starting from the service becoming more accessible, more control over the trade,an accountability of tax and therefore generation of revenue,prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and a lot more..i think what more important is for the government to realize that if there is something they cant eliminate from its root..its better to curb and control it..look at USA or Thailand..where it has been legalized and in the later case, it has gone on to become one of the major contributer to the GDP of the country..i have not done enough research on this figures but i am pretty confident that i am close to the right figures.
nice n simple...

@aroop.
Thank u for that mind boggling comment.As u said it wud be more relevant to have a 'why'look on the issues like this.I would definitely have a detailed look on the causes as it is more seriouz than the effects.
@jerry.
Thank u for appreciating my work.I would give more consentration to maintain the presentation style
couple of things i would like to comment on, first is regarding the trade unionism, industrial development in kerala is in a bad shape not because of trade unions or political system or corrouption if that is the case there won't be any industry in Germany or in japan where they have trade unions, which are stronger than in kerala, workers strikes are practiced every where in the world kerala has more occurance of it due to improper media management and industrial relationships by industry, governments and society. how many times we had actual trade issues originated due to corporate negligence? anybody talk about that?
migration is another problem fastest growing industrial nation in the wester world is England which records highest migration rate not because of unemployment but because of increased competitions and higher density of population which in the long run will further increase competition, i am also a migrant from kerala reason why i migrated not because of unemployment but due to the increased competition . we all have to realize one thing that is kerala cannot be like a japan we can only improve our social standards by further implementing more socio economic reform policies as we did in 50-70 period, we should stop blaming unions and politicizations fro our problems and start look to ourself to find the problem. If the society changes then for sure th political system will be forced to change because we are working in a democratic society, for the existence of any political ideology peoples support is required, for ex if everybody in the state decide to not participate in harthals there will not be any harthals but people has to show that will , without that we can keep blame the politicians my parents did, i do the same and my grand kids also will do the same but the system will not change unless we change.
@ Dipu.
First af all a note of apology for not responding to your comment as I was for some days out of any updations.However,i went through your comment and could see that you put the matter in a very sensible manner.I agree to your comments in many ways as you put it,that it is the responsibility of the individuals to change predominently.And am quite sure that if implemented properly we can have a sound future,but then how do we tackle the issues of today??Changes in the thoughts of family has been the concern of many socilogists since time immemmorial as it is the cradle of the society,but how far is it implemented?and what z chaining us from such a sustainable development?...
I appreciate and thank you once again for that mind boggling comment...
