Merry Christmas has come around once more. It is a season of great rejoicing for it commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ..For some, Christmas is a religious day celebrated to honour the birth of Jesus Christ and for some it is another holiday noted and distinguished by the mutual exchange of gifts.Celebrations of Christmas are marked by ,the Midnight mass, exchange of greetings and gifts, Christmas tree, Christmas stars, Santa claus,Christmas crib,Christmas carols and mouthwatering recipes, such as,cakes, cookies, pudding etc.During Christmas the Churches are found decorated with poinsettias and lit with candles for the Christmas Eve service. The celebrations of Christmas festival begin on the eve of Christmas on 24th of December and continue till New Year's Day. On the whole, people celebrate Christmas with pomp, gaiety and devotion.

Christmas is known to the world over historically as the memorable day of the birth of Jesus, the Saviour. Though it is true that Christmas is thus celebrated as the day of the advent of Christ into this world, yet it also symbolises a very deeply significant truth of the spiritual life. Jesus Christ lived and symbolised Divine Consciousness. He is the very personification of Divinity. He was born at a time when ignorance, superstition, greed, hatred and hypocrisy prevailed upon the land.He was here to sow the seeds of love, faith and hope in the hearts of his people. He thus depicts the incarnation of the Word to the world. Thus Christmas is something more than a celebration. It is more like a reminder for analysing ourselves. And the real Christmas will be celebrated when we really make up our minds to fulfill the aim of Christ's birth, viz., to enter the Kingdom of God within us, and bring the same on earth."

To save the world, God's own incarnate Word.
He came in darkness, He who was The Light,
His godhead shone from clear blue baby eyes,
The curse of earth's first sin was lifted then,
That midnight hour reopened paradise.
